Can you tell us who you are and what you do for a living?
I am Simon, I live in Munich where i started Riversurfing at the age of 13. During school and studies I was an athlete for some well known brands including O’Neill and Billabong.
How different is river surfing to surfing in the ocean?
It is the same principle, but totally different, still. There is no paddling, no searching for waves. Just waiting in the line till it is your turn.

Can you tell us a bit about the river surfing community in Munich?
It became a fairly big community with most surfers also going to the ocean during their holidays for a real surf. Very friendly people, i would say.
What’s your favorite river surf spot?
There is some waves that only work during floods in France. Can not go into specifics, though.
What is/are your nickname(s) and where did that come from?
Strangi - From my last name
Why do you support The Bamboo Brush Society?
It erases one source of plastic from our daily lives. Every little bit counts, I guess.
What do you think of the Bamboo toothbrush?
Great idea, great toothbrushes. My dentist approves, too.
What is the best spot you have brushed your teeth?
Mouth :)
What’s your best travel story?
We were 3 guys going to catch a plane to Munich from LA. We all went to the airport separately and we all missed the flight.
