Interview with Windsurf Champ Rick Jendrusch

Interview with Windsurf Champ Rick Jendrusch

July 24, 2017

Can you tell us who you are and what you do for a living?
I'm Rick Jendrusch, a professional freestyle windsurfer from the Netherlands and I’m 21 years young!

What is the best spot you’ve brushed your teeth?
In the morning glory of the beach at Hossegor, France!

What do you do to reduce plastic?
I always bring my own cotton bag to the supermarket! And when I'm on the road I always try to use a metal drink bottle and refill it and of course I use your bamboo toothbrush!

Why do you support The Bamboo Brush Society?
The Bamboo Brush Society is an amazing concept. As a board sports lover water is one of the most important things in life, I drink it all day and surf in it most of the time. When the water is frozen I ski on it! I'm born in a village that is below sea level so there is water everywhere around us. As a windsurfer I prefer to surf in clean waters and everything that can help with that is a good thing!

You seem to like boards, what’s your most treasured board ?
Of course that's the windsurfer, but when there are waves I go surfing and in winter time skiing! But windsurfing is my biggest passion!

What kind of music are you into?
Pretty average I like the recent top 40 songs mostly!

What’s your best travel story?
There are a lot of travel stories as I travel around the world for six months of the year and it's always great. But at the moment I can only think about that moment I was out with four friends with offshore wind and a lot of clean, barreling waves in Cape Town, South Africa!

Share your best photo on your phone ! Make us laugh
Haha, well you asked for it...

How do you get inspired ?
I get inspired mostly by my friends! They inspire me and push me to go even further or challenge me to do certain tricks. I always want to keep pushing and never miss something and enjoy life to the fullest!

When did you realise windsurfing would dominate your life ?
I started early, when I was 11-years old and I got addicted and never lost that! I remember it like it happened yesterday. A good friend told me to jump and then I got hooked and since then Ive wanted to windsurf and do freestyle moves.

If you could go on a trip tomorrow to anywhere in the world, where would you go?
New Zealand definitely thats an easy choice!
